About the speaker:

Dr. Viktorija Maksimova is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Botany and Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Goce Delcev University in Stip, North Macedonia.

Expertise:

Research focused on bioactive plant metabolites including capsaicinoids, catechins and cannabinoids
Specialist in pharmacognosy extraction techniques and phytochemical characterization of medicinal plants
Experienced in quantitative analytical methods such as voltammetry, UV/VIS spectroscopy and HPLC analysis
Research on cytotoxic and antioxidative effects of natural compounds

Career highlights:

PhD completed in 2016 at Goce Delcev University focusing on antioxidative and cytotoxic properties of capsaicinoids from Capsicum species
DAAD research scholarship at the University of Leipzig investigating cytotoxic effects of capsaicin on neuroblastoma cell cultures
Appointed Assistant Professor in 2017 and promoted to Associate Professor in 2021
